The MedECC, in collaboration with the Organisation Méditerranéenne de l’Énergie et du Climat (OMEC), is organising a webinar to present and discuss the key findings from the latest MedECC Special Report on the climate and Water, Energy, Food, and Ecosystems nexus in the Mediterranean. Published in November 2024, this report provides an assessment of the scientific information on the interconnections between climate change, water, energy, food security, and ecosystems in the region. During the webinar, authors will share key insights and explore implications for sustainable solutions.

The MedECC Special Report Interlinking climate change with the Water – Energy – Food – Ecosystems (WEFE) nexus in the Mediterranean Basin is the result of collaborative efforts by scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders across the Mediterranean. It builds on the First Mediterranean Assessment Report (MAR1) released in 2020 by MedECC, advancing the discussion by focusing on the interconnections and trade-offs between water, energy, food, and ecosystems. This report provides decision-makers with data-driven insights, along with evaluations relevant for policy-making needed for mitigating climate impacts and ensuring the sustainable management of natural resources.
