Dr. Selmin Burak has been working as an environmental engineer since more than 30 years. She is currently Professor Emeritus in Marine Environment, at the Chair of the Istanbul University-Institute of Marine Sciences & Management. She has an MSc. of Meteorology Engineering and Ph.D. of Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Istanbul (ITU). She has been involved in the identification and formulation of water management projects and climate change adaptation at national and international institutions such as UN agencies, World Bank, EC. As an academician, she has conducted several MSc. and Ph.D. theses at IU/IMSM. She has carried out several water management and coastal water quality projects in the Mediterranean region and in the Indian Ocean small island states.

She is also an IME member of the “Scientific and technical committee”, WWC alternate member, member of the Académie de l’Eau, member of the Turkish national committee on water use efficiency.
