Prof. Elham Ali is a full Professor of Environment & Oceanography at the University of Suez, where she also serves as the Director of the International Relations Office. Currently, she holds the position of Scientific Consultant for Environmental Affairs at the National Authority for Remote Sensing & Space Sciences (NARSS), a role she has fulfilled for the past three years. Prof. Ali earned her MPhil and PhD from the Southampton Oceanography Centre, University of Southampton, UK, where she also worked as a researcher (2004-2006). Her research focuses on environmental sciences, particularly oceanography, marine habitats, ocean sustainability, and the impacts of climate change.

She is actively involved in global climate change initiatives, serving as a lead author for the IPCC's sixth assessment report (AR6), a member of UNEP’s Global Environment Outlook (GEO-7), and a panellist for UNEP's Foresight Expert Panel. She is a member of the review committee for Egypt's National Adaptation Plan (NAP), focusing on addressing climate change impacts across the country. This committee plays a critical role in evaluating and advising on strategies to enhance Egypt's resilience and capacity to adapt to climate change.

In 2020, Prof. Ali was awarded the Kwame Nkrumah Award for "Distinguished Women Scientist in Africa" by the African Union, recognizing her contributions to science and environmental sustainability. Additionally, she holds an international certification in training and human resources development from the IBCT, enhancing her expertise in institutional development, strategic planning, and project management.
