Philippe Drobinski is the director of the Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique / Insttut Pierre Simon Laplace. He is research director at the CNRS and professor at the Ecole polytechnique. His research focuses on regional climate variability and trends in the Euro-Mediterranean region with a particular interest in water and energy resources. He has coordinated numerous national and international programs, including the international HyMeX program on the water cycle in the Mediterranean. Since 2019, he is the founding director of the interdisciplinary center Energy4Climate, aiming to address the systemic complexity of the energy transition. He has authored over 160 book chapters and articles in international peer-reviewed journals and is lead author of the energy chapter of the 1st MedECC assessment report (MAR1) on climate and environment change in the Mediterranean region. At the Ecole Polytechnique, he teaches master's level courses on climate change and renewable energies and is responsible for an executive training program on the environment and energy management.
