Philippe Drobinski
Philippe Drobinski is the director of the Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique / Insttut Pierre Simon Laplace. He is research director at CNRS and professor at the Ecole Polytechnique. His research focuses on regional climate variability and trends in the Euro-Mediterranean region, with a particular interest in water and energy resources.
He has coordinated numerous national and international programs, including the international HyMeX program on the water cycle in the Mediterranean. Since 2019, he is the founding director of the interdisciplinary center Energy4Climate, aiming to address the systemic complexity of the energy transition. He has authored over 180 book chapters and articles in international peer-reviewed journals. At Ecole Polytechnique, he teaches master's level courses on climate change and renewable energy and leads an executive training program on the environment and energy management.
Within MedECC, he is Lead Author of the energy chapter in the First Mediterranean Assessment Report (MAR1). He also co-coordinated the 2024 Special Report on the Climate-WEFE nexus, and was nominated in 2025 as co-coordinator of the Second Mediterranean Assessment.
