Prof. A. Sánchez-Arcilla is a Full Professor at the at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC-BarcelonaTech). He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering, and serves as the Director of the Laboratory of Maritime Engineering (Laboratori d’Enginyeria Marítima, LIM/UPC) since 1990. It is here that he develops his research activity in the field of maritime (coastal and harbour) engineering. He has contributed significantly to the understanding of how climate change affects coastal infrastructures and has proposed adaptive measures to mitigate these impacts. He has published over 20 books and over 150 research papers and supervised 28 PhD theses. He has taken part in more than 30 European research projects.
